East Camden Yard (2)

DSCF8128 (1)

Fuji x100
f/4
ISO 320
1/125

I find myself using manual mode more often these days. Not for bragging rights, but out of necessity. Midday shots, like this one, which contain deep shadows and well exposed highlights can often times not be achieved in aperture priority mode. Still, I trust the Fuji AWB. It may have missed the mark in this image. Nothing that a slight adjustment in Aperture 3 didn’t resolve.

Hi Jerry. Thanks! Monochrome, and the like, is not as easy at it seems. That’s the beauty of it; something quite complex creating the simplest visual effect.

What an amazing space, it reminds me of the finger wharves we have in Sydney

I had to look those up ;)
I see what you mean. Of course, I know this image in its true context, thus the comparison makes me smile a bit.

This is great though. This is what we do; we create whatever reality we choose for the viewer.
Sounds creepy. But you know what I mean. Lol :)

Thank you, Pat. I had paid close attention to how this image manipulates the eye. I observed the same movement, as you’ve mentioned, when I viewed it.
      Great comment. Thanks again. :)

That is so beautiful. You really captured the essence of the place, never mind the technical aspects of the shot.

Thanks Jenny! Perhaps we shouldn’t mind the technical aspects because they miss the mark. Lol.
I’m glad to get your thoughts on this. And I like that you’ve used the word “beautiful” to describe something so industrial.

This is one I’d have surely botched. The lighting was tricky but you, master that you are, were able to out trick the available light. Well done.

“Master”… Perhaps not. But I pay attention and learn what I can. Some day, Linda, I’d like to earn that title. For now, I see too many true masters of the lens, hiding here and there on this site, and this keeps me from thinking too much of myself.

    Yes.
I brought the picture to full size and I felt like it swallowed me up and plunked me down inside the building. I could almost smell it.
    Love it!

That’s great! I use this one as my wallpaper. At full size it does seem to envelop you, doesn’t it?
You know, it’s not easy to get such a wide perspective with a fixed 35mm. Once again, my fuji doesn’t want to do any of the hard work. ;)

Outstanding. Glad to hear it, Melanie.

For clarification. This was, in fact, shot in manual mode. The only automatic setting was white balance. It would’ve worked, but after I processed image to sepia, the balance was off just a bit.

Thanks! I thought for a while about a color for that door. Can’t believe that I landed on pink. It did work somehow. lol

Again, thanks as always. Glad to here your thoughts.

These building tend to not be easy to spot, because the city has grown around them over the years. But they are fun to photograph.
Thanks very much for visiting. I’m glad to hear your thoughts on this.
